Matthew and Brian Dennison won the 2023-24 Division I National Championship held at Monroe-West Monroe, LA. After coming in second on day 1 with 10.32 lbs, they moved to first place on day 2 with 19.79 lbs. In the end, they won with a 3-day total weight of 29.68 lbs, earning $15,000.00.

The Dennison team found success by fishing in shallow waters. They started around the dam, where they found schools of fish but couldn’t catch any during the first three hours of the tournament. They then moved to the shallow end of the lake and found fish. On Lake D’Arbonne, they fished flats in

14-16 foot waters, using small profile jigs. On Poverty Point, despite the challenging weather conditions, they caught the second heaviest bag of the day in Division I with a 9.89 lbs bag, securing their championship victory.

Latin McKinney finished second overall with a total weight of 27.78 lbs. He steadily moved up the leaderboard throughout the tournament, catching fish in dark waters around 6-8 feet deep using 1/8th oz. jig heads and black/gold hair jigs.

Eric Miller and Kent Butt finished third overall with a total weight of 18.92 lbs. They caught the biggest fish of the tournament on day 1, which weighed 3.18 lbs. Dewight Keller finished fourth with 25.83 lbs, followed by Aaron Powell and Alex Cochran

 in fifth with 25.23 lbs. Charles Bowman and Morgan Neal finished sixth with 23.51 lbs, and JJ Waters and Brandon Townsell finished seventh with 23.51 lbs.

Mark Strunk and April Hamilton were the Top Male/Female and finished ninth overall with a 21.25 lbs.

Dan and Sue Dannenmueller were the Top Seniors with 20.19 lbs, finishing 12th overall.
